Hi, I grew up in Jackson, MS and used to dig in Vicksburg quite a bit. I've lived in Memphis many years but haven't been digging or collecting bottles for years. Is there a local group of collectors / diggers who meet on a regular basis? Would it be possible to join in on an upcoming "dig"? Tommy Ashker - 901-626-7735

Is there a book available on artifact sites for our area..?....Thanks.....Bill

Hey Bill.
As far as indian pottery their is a book that I saw about 8 years ago on the Walls , MS Indian on Serpent Pots and other pottery from them. This was an excellent refernce book for the mid south pottery collector. I found this book in the Hernando , MS library. Other fields of interest such as Civil War you might try " Civil War Artifacts of the Western Campaign " - another great Civil War reference book. As far as bottles, the closest area reference guide - " All Known Mississippi Bottles & Jugs " by Justin McClure. I can't think of any other books at the moment.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Elmer. What you've found is a nice Blob Soda approximate date is 1865 - 1875 and approx. value is $25. - $30. Keep looking in the same area , you might find a bottle even much better !
