We dug this egg from a privy that dated from about 1863 - 1865. It was used to be put in a hens nest to entice the chicken to lay its eggs in the designated place. Legend has it that it had also killed any snake that ingested it.
When we found this egg it was broken in half - we found the 2 parts and I glued it back together with a perfect fit. With close inspection , I saw that it also has a pefectly drilled hole in the top end of it. I'm not sure what the reason is. You can only guess or maybe someone out there might know. (if you know please email me).
Anyway, a good conversation piece !
