I found this item while metal detecting a lot that fits the time period of that area of town. We found C.W. bullets , buttons and numerous other period items on this same lot.
It appears to have been a hat or lapel pin.the pictures that you see are front, back , and the front beside a penny.
It measures about 1 1/2 the size of a penny.
It would add some flavor to a nice Civil War diplay case not to mention that you just can't beat a $5.00 price tag.
